What is The Kindness Relay?
The Kindness Relay is a small initiative that tracks the journey of physical cards as they are passed between people. Each batch of cards has a QR code that links to this website. When someone scans a card, they can view the card’s journey and optionally add a stop.
Information collected when adding a stop to a card
When you add a stop to a card’s journey, you may choose to provide:
- A location (e.g. “Manchester, UK”) — entirely optional
- A short note about the moment — entirely optional
We also record:
- The card ID (from the QR code URL)
- The date and time the stop was added
The location and note you provide (if any) will be visible to anyone who scans the same card — that is the point, the card’s journey is a shared story. Please don’t include anything you wouldn’t want to be publicly visible.
Information collected when ordering cards
If you request a pack of cards to be posted to you, we collect:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your postal address
- The quantity of cards requested
- Whether you opted in to email updates, and when
This information is used solely to fulfil your card order — to print a label, post the cards to you, and send you an order confirmation email. It is not used for profiling, and it is never shared or sold. Once your order has been dispatched, your postal address is deleted.
Email updates about your card’s journey
When you order cards you can tick an optional box to receive email updates tracking where your cards have travelled. The box is unticked by default, and leaving it blank has no effect on your order.
If you do tick it, we keep your email address and the date you consented, and send you an update roughly every month or two — nothing else. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every update, and we stop immediately. The lawful basis for these emails is your consent.
What we do NOT collect
- Phone numbers
- Payment information (cards are free)
- Device identifiers or IP addresses linked to individuals
- Cookies or tracking technologies
- Any information beyond what is listed above
Third parties
We do not sell, share, or pass your information to third parties for commercial purposes. If a postal or courier service is used to dispatch cards, your delivery address will be shared with them solely for that purpose.
How long do we keep information?
- Card stops — remain part of the card’s journey for as long as the card is active.
- Order details — deleted once your cards have been dispatched.

Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
